How do we promote healthy eating to keep us learning?

kai time!

School lunches

All children are supervised while eating their lunch in their own classrooms. This now occurs for ten minutes at the end of their playtime. This has proven to settle children back into learning mode after physical activity and has reduced behaviour incidents. We are a Kura Waiora – Health Promoting School and only healthy food options should be in lunch boxes. High sugar food and drinks, e.g. fizzy and lollies or chocolates, will be removed and returned after school. Water is the drink of choice. Children who have eaten healthy food at school, appear to be more alert and ready for learning throughout the day. Treat foods can be had at home.

Friday lunch orders

Bought lunches are available every Friday for 1st Fuel – 11.30am. A notice is sent home every Wednesday stating what’s on the menu. The cost is usually $3. This service is reliant on parent help Fridays from 9 am to 11.30 am. Please contact the office if you are keen to support our school lunches.
