About Us

Marfell Community School is a year 1-6 primary school with small class sizes.  Founded in 1961, we are located in the heart of the Marfell suburb of New Plymouth, New Zealand, between Maunga Taranaki and sea. We are close to preschools, Devon Intermediate and Spotswood College.

Much thought goes into our class composition at Marfell Community School. Most classes are composite classes – mixed years, a structure that affords us flexibility in our groupings, allows for further growth in school numbers and maximises the strengths of our teaching staff. This also enables us to better meet the learning needs of our children. In recognising the unique position of Māori as tangata whenua, Marfell Community School endeavours to provide elements of instruction in te reo and incorporate tikanga Māori within the curriculum delivery programme. We are skilled at looking after students with challenging needs and provide a range of programmes to accommodate unique situations.  Our special needs and extension programmes cater for individual learning requirements.

We are proud of our tamariki, and our staff are passionate to see them succeed.  Our goal is to produce happy healthy learners – tama tu tama ora - tamariki who value manaakitanga, ako, ngawari and awhina. The Marfell Community School is well supported in our goal by enthusiastic community groups and past pupils. We hope for your whanau to join us on our journey.
